Both teams were strong in the pitcher’s circle Tuesday, but Temple City Rams Varsity defeated San Marino 2-1. Temple City Rams Varsity pitchers allowed just five hits to San Marino.
San Marino got on the board in the first inning but the Rams never gave up.
Gillian Molina was the winning pitcher for Temple City Rams Varsity. She went six innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out four. Ellie Zellien threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Zellien recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Temple City Rams Varsity.
Skylar Sarreal and Zellien each managed one hit to lead Temple City Rams Varsity. In the 3rd inning Molina was walked and Johnson was hit by a pitch to bring up Zellien with two outs. Zellien singled to center field to score courtesy runner, Miranda Garcia, and bring around the go ahead run with Johnson.
Temple City Rams Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Sarreal had the most chances in the field with eight.
