Temple City High School
The Rams began league play with a dominating 18-0 triumph over the South Pasadena Tigers on Thursday.
Last year, the Rams went 1-1 versus the Tigers and narrowly missed a playoff spot by losing the tiebreaker procedure. In the first league tilt of the season, Temple City made sure it wouldn’t feel that heartbreak against the Tigers again this year.
All players contributed to the victory. Substitute Victor Lin won in a tiebreaker, 7-6. Substitute Jacky Tang came back from a 1-4 deficit to win his singles match 7-5.
Singles starter Ryan Lee won all three of his matches, 6-0, 6-1, 6-1. James Peng and Jimmy Xu both added two more singles victories.
The number one doubles team of Spencer Chen and Regis Lee had 6-0, 6-1, 6-1 victories. Justin Lee and Jason Chen also added three wins by scores of 6-0, 6-2, 6-1. Ryan Wang and Justin Jia scored 6-1 and 6-2 wins. Jia paired with Brian Ling in the final round with a 6-4 score.
For boys tennis, this is the first 18-0 win over South Pasadena in over 7 years. This most recent win has the Rams going into spring break with a 6-2 record, 1-0 in league.
